My work as a commercial and personal brand photographer which is all about celebrating people and telling their stories through my images. I have a natural curiosity and a genuine love of connecting with people from all walks of life. I’m privileged that my work enables me to meet and photograph a diverse range of clients.
Over the past 20 years I have photographed the UK business world at every level, from portrait photos of local business entrepreneurs, to the inner workings of a multi-million pound distribution centre operated by Yodel. Many hundreds of images that I have taken on commercial photoshoots have been used for business websites, digital marketing, PR campaigns and promotional material.
As a commercial photographer I see my role as helping to empower businesses by celebrating their people and success through creative images. I believe that high quality commercial photography is a vital tool for marketing in the digital age as it can help to recruit staff, attract customers and entice investors.
I enjoy meeting people, finding out about their business and discovering what makes them tick. This helps me to devise a photographic strategy and create a series of images to bring their story to life. Another name for this is Personal Brand Photography. From sole traders to large commercial clients, my role is to produce photographs that best represent the business brand, put across the right marketing message and connect with their target audience.
I am adept at reportage photography and love photographing people at work, in a style that is both visually creative and naturalistic. Being tasked to photograph ‘a day in the life’ of a factory, or staff working in an industrial setting is my idea of the perfect photography assignment.
I completed my Photography degree in 2000 and went on to gain valuable experience working as a photographic assistant to several well known commercial photographers in London. Photographing the world’s tallest man and spraying water on footballer Wayne Rooney to simulate sweat, were memorable highlights from this time in my career.
Still based in London, I progressed to become a freelance commercial photographer in my own right. My commercial photography clients included national charities, large public sector organisations and blue chip companies. I was commissioned to photograph Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family on several occasions. My images were regularly used in high profile PR campaigns, national newspapers and leading lifestyle magazines.
I relocated to the North West in 2008. I have continued to work with commercial photography clients in London, as well as undertaking photoshoots for businesses and marketing agencies throughout the North of England. I have a photographic studio at my home in Glossop, Derbyshire and regularly travel across the UK to shoot on location for different clients.
I love my job and enjoy the diversity that life as a commercial photographer brings.
